Background:

The Bearded Collie was developed as a herding dog in Scotland.  Known far and wide for its legendary sheep herding ability, the Beardie was extremely popular in that part of the world.  This breed has a beautiful, shaggy coat that needs regular care.  Not widespread in the US, the Beardie has a dedicated following among those initiated to the breed.

Personality:

Due to its strong herding instinct, the dog may try to do the same at home, perhaps herding the children in the family.  This dog, however, is a completely devoted, loyal dog and loves adult and child alike.  This breed needs a lot of exercise and in not appropriate for an apartment dweller.
