Background:

The Belgian Sheepdog is also called the Groenendael in some parts of the world.  An attractive dog with a deep black coat, this breed is an outstanding sheepdog in the field, able and willing to work long, hard hours and asking for little more than a pat on the head in return.  This breed has also been used as a guard dog, police dog and a companion.  Known to be good with children, the Belgian Sheepdog is an ideal dog in a rural setting.

Personality:

Definitely not an apartment dog.  This breed is an intelligent, obedient one that needs a lot of room to play in.  Due to its good nature and dedication to the master, this breed has always been popular all over the world.
