Background:

The Border Collie is one of the top working sheepdogs on the planet.  Consistent winners at sheepdog trails, this is a prototypical working breed that does not appreciate inactivity.  If allowed to get bored or forced to lead a sedentary life, Border Collies often become destructive in their behavior.  Over the centuries, this dog has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, friend and companion.

Personality:

The Border Collie is an intelligent, energetic, easily trainable dog that needs a lot of work to use up all that energy.  If raised as a housedog, they may develop habits such as chasing cars, herding children and other dogs that may cause problems.  This is not a suitable breed for apartment dwellers and not for those who lead a sedentary ;life.  If you are an active person with a full calendar of outdoor events, this is the perfect dog to accompany you on your adventures.
