If allowed to get bored or forced to lead a sedentary life, Border Collies often become destructive in their behavior. Over the centuries, this dog has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, friend and companion.

The Border Collie is an intelligent, energetic, easily trainable dog that needs a lot of work to use up all that energy. If raised as a housedog, they may develop habits such as chasing cars, herding children and other dogs that may cause problems. This is not a suitable breed for apartment dwellers and not for those who lead a sedentary ;life.
