Background:

The Collie comes in two types - the Rough Collie and the Smooth Collie.  One of the most popular dogs since the advent of Lassie, the Collie is one of the breeds that has suffered heavily from over breeding by unscrupulous, puppy mill breeders.  The breed has snow recovered to some extent from that period of unbridled popularity.  For centuries, this breed has been an outstanding sheepdog, working the flock with patience, dedication and thoroughness.  It has also served as a guard dog, rescue dog, companion and as a guide dog.

Personality:

The Collie is an even tempered dog that is a pleasure to be around.  Some individuals of this breed love to frolic around, with a natural clownishness.  Not aggressive by nature, they are nevertheless suspicious of strangers and protective of the home and family.  Because of all its nice qualities and its outstanding beauty, the Collie is an ideal companion dog.

Color Sable and white, tri-color, blue merle, white

Ears Carried three quarters erect
Eyes Dark colored
Body Firm, muscular body with a level back and powerful limbs
Tail Moderately long with a swirled end
