Background:
A Hungarian sheepdog, the Puli has been around for well over a thousand years
helping the Hungarian shepherds tend to their flock. Compactly built with
a shaggy coat, the Puli was ideal to work in inclement weather. The coat,
which forms cords, is one of the most distinctive features of this breed.
This breed has also worked as hunting dog in marshy areas as it is a strong
swimmer and loves water.
Personality:
A cheerful, alert dog, it makes a wonderful watchdog, ready to protect its
family. This breed has a tendency to wander and must not be allowed to
roam unsupervised. It is not an apartment dog as it is very active by
nature.
