Background:
Also called the Congo Dog or the African Barkless Dog, the Basenji originated
in Africa and was used extensively in hunting. The singular feature of
this dog is that it does not bark at all, but 'yodels'. It is a smallish
dog, built for agility and endurance in the hunt.
Personality:
Basenjis are somewhat independent minded and do not take to strangers very
well. They are very affectionate and patient with all the family
members. And they will never wake the neighbor up by barking at
night!
