Background:
The Bloodhounds are scent hounds that descended from St. Hubert's hound
dating back to the 7th century. They are massive dogs, exceeding a 100
pounds at times, that can perform the task of tracking anything, man or animal,
given the smallest hint of a trail. These dogs are being used even today
in hunting, law enforcement, search and rescue and drug control. Their
size and ground covering stride give them a huge advantage in performing the
tasks that they are trained for.
Personality:
The Bloodhound is a shy, sweet, affectionate dog that makes a wonderful
family companion. However, it is a dog meant to be active, so a lot of
training and activities must be a regular part of its life to keep it from
getting bored and destructive. As with some of the larger breeds with
ponderous jowls, be prepared to deal with some drool!
