Background:
Throughout history, the Irish Wolfhound has played the role of war dog,
hunting dog, coursing hound, guard dog and of late, has started playing the role
of companion. In all the roles, this breed has been a highly valued friend
that man could rely on. Given the massive size of this breed, one learns
to appreciate the ease with which this dog has learned to adapt and play such an
integral part in man's life. This is truly a regal dog that loves to romp
and play in the country side, gently watch over the master's homestead and
watchfully cares for his home.
Personality:
A patient, intelligent dog, the Irish Wolfhound tends to form attachments
with one person. Definitely not meant for a home with a small garden or an
apartment. But if you happen to live in the country, this dog makes a
delightful addition to the family.
