Background:

Developed in England for the purpose of hunting river otters, the Otter Hound is an excellent swimmer with webbed feet.  These shaggy, appealing dogs are friendly and boisterous.  Though they will bark at anything that looks interesting, they do not necessarily make good guard dogs.  And as they do require a lot of exercise, they may not be the ideal candidate for a 700 square foot apartment.

Personality:

They are very friendly dogs that love to introduce themselves to people with a wagging tail and a wet lick.  They make ideal family pets just as long as you make sure that they have a large yard to run around in.
