Background:

One of the oldest breeds known to man, ancient documents point to the existence of the Saluki for over 7000 years.  Of Arab origin, this dog was referred to as the sacred gift of Allah and treated with commensurate respect and dignity.  Since time im-memorable, the breed had been revered and the breeding planned as carefully as for Arab race  horses.  This has resulted in a hound of such grace and elegance that few other breeds can match.

Personality:

The Saluki is an affectionate and friendly animal that actually enjoys playing with child and adult alike.  In the hunting field, the Saluki can fly over open ground and bring down the quarry, then go home and romp with the family.  If you have the time and inclination to give this dog a good home and spacious play area, it rewards your efforts ten fold with affection and loyalty.
