Background: Descended from the Hanoverian hounds of Germany, this breed was started by George Plott in 1750. Used to hunt big game such as bear, boar and mountain lion, the Plott Hounds are also used as treeing coonhounds today. This is a powerful dog with an unrestricted hunting instinct. This breed is listed in the Miscellaneous class with the AKC. Personality: A fierce, raw hunter, this dog is not meant to be a pet or a housedog.
