Background:

The Finnish Spitz is an ancient breed having been raised in Finland for hundreds of years.  Recognized by the AKC in 1987, the Finnish Spitz is used as a housedog and pet in the US.  In Finland, this breed is still used as a sporting dog, hunting and flushing game with a distinctive bark.  With its fox like appearance and its electric personality, the Finnish Spitz is slowly gaining popularity world wide.

Personality:

A mid sized loyal, friendly dog, this breed makes an ideal companion for the occasional hunter or hiker.  Due to its fox like appearance, reflective dog jackets are recommended in the woods.

Coat Short top coat with a light undercoat
Color Brown-red or golden-red with minor white marking
Head Fox like, somewhat pointed
Ears Triangular, erect
Eyes Dark, intelligent eyes
Body Muscular, square body with a level back
Tail Curled over the loin
