Background:

The Tibetan Terrier originated in the mountainous region of the Himalayas in Tibet.  Treasured as a good luck charm, this breed was carefully preserved in this isolated area.  Recognized by the AKC in 1973, the Tibetan Terrier has a beautiful coat, a wonderful temperament and a dignified comportment that makes it an attractive and lovable companion.  Previously used as a guide dog in Tibet, this breed is almost exclusively treated as a companion dog in the Western world.

Personality:

An intelligent, calm dog, the Tibetan Terrier is a natural companion asking for nothing more than a kind word and a pat from its master.  Its small size makes it an ideal apartment dog.  The beautiful coat requires weekly brushing to prevent matting.
