Background:

The Clumber Spaniel is said to have first been developed in France and then improved upon in England.  This breed was first presented at a show in England in 1859.  The Clumber Spaniel is a massive dog and a surprisingly good hunter, going after pheasant and partridge with a willing attitude.  They do require some training to develop their retrieving instincts.

Personality:

This is a calm, intelligent breed that makes an outstanding family companion both with the adults and the children.  Despite not being widespread they enjoy a devoted following among their admirers.  They also easily adapt to apartment life.

Coat Dense, straight, flat and weather resistant
Color White with lemon or orange markings
Head Massive with a marked stop and heavy brow
Ears Broad and set low
Eyes Dark amber with a diamond shaped rim
Body Proportionate with straight back and a deep brisket
Tail Proportionately docked
