Background:
The Golden Retriever, a sporting dog that originated from Scotland has long
been one of the most popular breeds in the world over the last century.
Their existence has been well documented since the mid 1800s. However,
Goldens were first shown in England only in 1908. Following that, in the
US, they were recognized by the AKC in 1925. The Golden has one of the
most beautiful coats on any dog and it requires frequent brushings to keep it
that way.
Personality:
The Golden has maintained its continued popularity for good reason. It
is an even tempered dog that excels in almost any task set for it, serving
effectively as a family pet, sporting dog, guide dog for the blind and as a
performance dog.
