Background:

The Sussex Spaniel originated in England and derives its name from the Sussex county of England.  It was recognized by the AKC in 1884.  It is a strong massive dog with a signature gait and a beautiful glowing liver colored coat that is unique to this breed.  Despite it's useful skills and traits, this is not a widespread breed.

Personality:

The Sussex Spaniel is a fairly laid back dog that comes alive when asked to work in the field.  It is full of energy, barking and running vigorously on the hunt.  Its tranquil nature makes it a good family pet and it adapts well to apartment life.

Coat Thick, flat or wavy
Color Golden liver
Head Moderately long muzzle, full stop and heavy brows
Ears Thick, large ears
Eyes Hazel
Body Deep chest and a level topline
