Background:
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has its origins in the Netherlands starting
in 1873. Initially named Korthal's Griffon, the development was completed
in France many years later. This breed is an avid hunter, deliberate in
its method and tireless in its approach. It is an excellent swimmer and
can handle both rough terrain and marshy terrain with equanimity. It is
also at home in both the conformation and obedience rings.
Personality:
This is a highly trainable, affectionate dog that needs a lot of contact with
people. They tend to get destructive and do not do well when kept as
kennel dogs. They do need a lot of exercise to maintain their hard
condition and do well on farms and areas with open land.
