Background:
The Bull Terrier was primarily created for the bloodthirsty sport of bull
fighting. This breed was created to obtain an aggressive, powerful dog
that could successfully challenge the bull in the ring. Today, most of the
aggression has been bred out of this breed. However, it still retains some
of its powerful instincts and should be treated with respect. This dog is
definitely not a child's toy or play thing. If trained carefully and well
socialized, this dog makes a wonderful family companion in and outside the
house. However, it does not look upon strangers, strange animals and even other
children kindly and should be restrained with leash when in public. The
Bull Terrier comes is two varieties that are based on color - White and all
other colors.
Personality:
The well bred, well socialized bull terrier is a sweet, loyal companion at
home with a strong instinct to protect its family. It is not a breed to be
purchased on impulse though (no dog should be purchased on impulse) as it is a
serious responsibility to train this dog and give it enough human contact.
