Background:

The Affenpinscher is often refered to as the 'monkey dog' due to its face which is very monkey like in appearance.  Believed to have the Brussels Griffon and terrier blood in its background, it is an ancient European breed which has been a favored companion dog for centuries.  Despite his size, the Affenpinscher is a fearless dog unafraid to take on adversaries twice his size.

Personality:

A sharp barker, this dog makes an excellent watchdog in an apartment or a house.  This is also a delightful companion breed.  Training must be given to the Affenpinscher early in life as it tends to be obstinate sometimes.
