The Chinese Crested comes in two different varieties: the Hairless and the Powderpuff.  The hairless variety has hair only on some areas of the body - the head, the tail, the feet, the rear hocks.  The Powderpuff variety is completely covered with a soft silky coat.  Though named the Chinese Crested, it is believed that the Dog is of Ethiopian or Turkish origin.
