Background: The Havanese is the national dog of Cuba and the only breed to have its origins there. Bred from the dogs brought by the Spanish settlers, this dog developed a unique, silky, heat tolerant coat that is the hallmark of the breed. After being exported to Europe, this dog became vary popular with the aristocracy in England and saw the biggest surge in popularity at that time. Still somewhat rare in the US, the breed has nevertheless taken strong root. Personality: Bred to be a companion to the aristocracy, the Havanese is a good nature, heat tolerant dog that is a delightful companion both in an apartment and a house. Physical Appearance:
