Background:

The Italian Greyhound is the smallest sight hound.  Believed to have originated in the Mediterranean region, the Italian Greyhound looks like a miniaturized version of the Greyhound.  Dating back to over 2000 years ago, this is a hardy breed despite its delicate appearance.  This breed does not handle the cold well however and must be protected.  Though by nature a sight hound, this dog has been a companion dog for a long time.

Personality:

A gentle, serene dog of timid temperament, the Italian Greyhound is a great pet for calm people.  Although the breed loves children as a rule, they are likely to run and hide from unruly or rough children.  On the whole, this is a sweet tempered, lovable dog, ideal as a companion for sedentary and calm people.
