Background:

The Japanese Chin whose beginnings are shrouded in mystery is thought to have been bred from dogs of Chinese and Korean origin imported to Japan.  In Japan, this breed became a highly prized possession of the nobility.  Throughout their existence, the Japanese Chin has been a lap dog, pet and prized companion.  Bred expressly for this purpose, this breed has some of the most appealing characteristics that has made this very popular over time.

Personality:

A dog with a surprisingly cat like habit of keeping clean, this is an ideal companion breed.  The Japanese Chin also makes a good apartment dog, needing little exercise and space.  It is a pleasant, loving dog that does great with children.
