Background:

The Maltese is an ancient breed well over 2800 year old.  With its long, flowing white, silken hair, the Maltese  is one of the most beautiful breeds of dog.  Developed to be the companion of aristocracy, the Maltese itself has an air of elegance and royalty about it.  An outstanding companion and pet through the millenia, the Maltese will certainly continue to be a popular dog. 

Personality:

A playful, intelligent breed, this dog makes an excellent apartment dog.  This breed will serve as both companion and alarm dog as it is a good barker.  Good with children, the Maltese has to be supervised in the company of children as they do not tolerate teasing or rough play.
