Background:

Descended from the Spitz breeds, the Pomeranian is a toy dog with an endearing cockiness bout it.  A mere 4 - 7 pounds, the Pomeranian walks an acts a good 50 pounds.  Developed in the Prussian region of Pomerania, this breed has become very popular all over the world.  With a luxurious coat, this breed is not hard to care for as regular brushing will keep the coat in peak condition.

Personality:

Used in the past as a watchdog and even a shepherd on occasion, the Pomeranian is valued more as a companion today.  It adapts to life in an apartment very well and as it is a good barker with sharp senses, it makes a great watchdog.
