The Silky Terrier is believed to be bred from the Skye, Yorkshire and Australian Terriers.  Truly a toy breed as evidenced by his size, the dog is also pure terrier in its behavior.  A willing companion to play with at home, it has strong terrier instincts and is a good mouser given half a chance.  The most distinguishing characteristic of this breed is its glorious coat, silky and smooth.  Though it requires some upkeep, the beauty it provides is well worth the effort.
