Background:

The Alaskan Malamute was bred to be a sled dog in the harsh, unforgiving environment of the sub-arctic Alaskan region.  This dog has prodigious stamina and can work pulling the sled over hundreds of miles day in and day out.  A typical sled pack dog, it is very independent and dominating if not trained consistently at an early age.

A pleasant, friendly dog if trained firmly at a young age.  It makes an excellent family pet as it can do well with just a small yard to run in.  It can also do well as an apartment dog if given a daily walk.
