Background:

Also known as the Turkish guard dog, the Anatolian Shepherd developed in that part of the world serving primarily as a hunting dog, herding dog, guard dog and even war dog.  First introduced to the US in 1968, it is still relatively rare.  However, among those initiated to the breed, it has a devoted following.

Personality:

This dog is intelligent, sensitive and eager to learn.  It is also very good around the family.  However, as it is very suspicious of strangers, it must be well trained and secured.

Coat Medium length coat, rough texture with a thick undercoat
