Background:
For centuries, the Portuguese Water Dog has worked on fishing boats with the
Portuguese fisherman retrieving torn netting and guarding the boat from
intruders when docked. This dog is an excellent swimmer, able to swim a
good distance, even to the extent of catching fish in the mouth that are
escaping the fisherman's net!
Personality:
Despite its active past, this dog adapts well to apartment life with a long
walk a few times a week. At home, it is a lively, affectionate dog that
loves to romp and play. This dog definitely makes a good family member in
any home.
