Background:
Another breed that originated in the harsh climate of Siberia, this breed is
eminently suited for the work for which it was created - drawing a sled in
freezing temperatures over long distances. This breed has incredible
stamina and endurance and is happiest working its heart out in the company of
its sled mates. Imported to Alaska from Siberia in the early 1900s, this
breed won every sled competition of the time and firmly established itself as
the top dog in the Klondike.
Personality:
Due to their friendly, gentle nature, they make excellent companions and
pets. However, they are working dogs and need a lot of exercise.
They are also very curious dogs and love to explore and many a husky has taken
off exploring and disappeared over the horizon. So it is imperative to
keep this dog on leash or in a fenced yard to prevent its wanderlust from taking
over.
