I have had both breeds.Many catahoulas and one shar-pei.Catahouls get bigger than the shar-peis. They vary in size much 45 to 75 lbs.The thing I would be concerned about here is the agressiveness.My shar-pei did not like strangers but was great with the kids.Most catahoulas will not tolerate a stranger at all. Many people mistake other dogs as catahoulas because of their eyes or colors.A catahoula has short hair. If you feed it in a kennel it will bark left and right to protect its food,more than it will eat.If it does that then it is catahoula if not it is australian shep. or something else.If you have any more questions about catahoulas I would be happy to answer them if I can.
